Reporting an Exposure

An exposure is defined as being within 6 feet for 15 minutes or more with a person that has tested positive for COVID. A close contact in school, when strict masking is being followed, is defined as being within 3 feet for 15 minutes or more. The close contact must be within the contagious period of 48 hours before the COVID symptoms started or while the person had symptoms. If the COVID positive person has no symptoms, then they are contagious the 48 hours before testing or up to 10 days after. When reporting an exposure, please include the name and year of the student, the date of exposure, the type of exposure (social, family, household or unknown) and if he or she is experiencing any symptoms or if the student plans to get tested. Vaccinated students do not have to quarantine and may return to campus as long as they are symptom free. If an unvaccinated student is exposed, please quarantine that person for five days from the date of exposure. A COVID test is recommended on day five. If the unvaccinated students does not have any symptoms on day six, they may return to campus while adhering to strict masking for the next five days. Vaccinated or unvaccinated individuals should monitor their symptoms for the entire 10 days after an exposure. If at any time the exposed person begins to have symptoms during that time, they should stay home and be tested for COVID.
