COVID-19 Policies and Updates

We will continue to monitor and follow the guidelines and mandates set forth by health officials, as well as our health team to ensure we are doing everything we can to reasonably keep your families safe and camp open. All plans are contingent on forthcoming direction from state and local authorities.
Vaccine Policy – All camp employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or submit twice-weekly negative tests. Under current local, state, and federal guidelines, there are no vaccination or testing requirements for campers. Camp families should be aware that Loyola Academy will follow any updated health mandates concerning vaccination and testing requirements in accordance with applicable local, state and federal law.

Capacity Limits – Due to the vaccination requirement, we will not be implementing any COVID-based capacity limits and will thus return to our previous operational capacity limits which are dictated by staffing, facilities, etc.

Social Distancing – Campers will be asked to maintain 3-foot social distancing during stationary indoor activities (lunch, movie, art, etc.)

Daily Certification – We will not be conducting health screenings upon entry. However, each day you send your camper to us, you are certifying that:
  • I have not received a confirmed diagnosis for coronavirus (COVID-19) by a coronavirus (COVID-19) test or from a diagnosis by a healthcare professional in the past 10 days.
  • I am not currently under an order of quarantine.
  • I have not experienced any cold or flu-like symptoms in the last 10 days (e.g. fever or temperature of greater than 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit, cough, difficulty breathing, sore throat, pressure in the chest, extreme fatigue, moderate to severe headache, vomiting, diarrhea and loss of smell or taste).
Contact Tracing – We will notify you if your camper has been exposed to anyone at camp with COVID-19. In order to protect the health and safety of our entire community, we need you to notify us immediately if your camper tests positive for COVID-19 so that we may contact trace and notify any possibly exposed campers or staff.

Mask Policy – Following CDC and IDPH guidelines at present, we follow the following policies: Masks are REQUIRED by all campers and staff, regardless of vaccination status, at all times while INDOORS. The exception to this is of course while they are swimming or eating at their tables during lunch. Masks are OPTIONAL while OUTDOORS.

Cancellation Policy – The health and safety of our community is our top priority and we will do everything within our power to ensure the camp is able to operate safely by limiting the spread of the coronavirus. If health officials require Day Camp to shut down prior to the start of Day Camp as they did in 2020, all camp families will receive a refund in full. If camp is required by health officials to shut down after the start of Day Camp, we will compensate staff for their work and cover the other running costs of camp that have already been incurred, and then a good faith effort will be made to provide a partial refund to all families from the balance. If an individual camper is not able to participate in camp due to contact tracing/symptoms/a positive test, etc., we will unfortunately not be able to issue a refund to that camp family due to the necessity of covering the costs incurred to camp (counselor salaries, etc.) to provide for that camper.
