Loyola Academy President Rev. Gregory J. Ostdiek, SJ, announced that Mr. Steve Tortorello has been named Loyola Academy's next principal beginning July 1, 2026.
Mr. Tortorello brings nearly two decades of experience in Catholic education and school leadership, including nine years as principal of Marian Catholic High School and recent leadership roles with the Archdiocese of Chicago Office of Catholic Schools.
The Doña Marina Society took root as a meaningful new expression of faith, fellowship, and connection at Loyola Academy. Established in 2025 and named in honor of Doña Marina, the mother of St. Ignatius, the society brings together women from across the Loyola family—including mothers of current students and graduates, Loyola Academy and St. Louise de Marillac alumnae, grandmothers, aunts, faculty, staff, and friends—to gather in prayer, reflection and shared Ignatian tradition.
The Loyola Crew team traveled to Kent Lake in Michigan to compete in the Midwest Rowing Championships, where the Loyola women's team delivered one of the strongest overall performances in program history, earning one gold medal and three silver medals.

On Sunday, May 3, the Loyola Academy community gathered for a Memorial Mass celebrating the extraordinary life and enduring legacy of Br. James Small, SJ (1922–2026), whose faith, artistry, humility and generosity left an indelible mark on generations of Ramblers.
