Known for his faithfulness to his vocation, Alphonsus Rodriguez entered the Society of Jesus in 1571 at the age of 39 after a life of hardship and loss. As the doorkeeper at the College of Montesion on the island of Majorca, he repeated the phrase, "I'm on my way, Lord," each time the doorbell rang. His humility, sensivity and openness to God's will led many to seek him out as a spiritual guide.
