A championship swimmer at Loyola, John went on to distinguish himself as a super all-around athlete. * In 1973, '74, and '80 he won the National Championship in the Modern Pentathlon. * In 1971 and '73 he was the National Champion in the Triathlon. * John was a 3-time member of the US Olympic Pentathlon team in 1972, '76, and '80.
