Father Mike's insistence on excellence in all things was the driving force behind Loyola's athletics in the 1960's. It was his decision in the late 50's to upgrade athletics and to demand competitiveness. During Father Mike's tenure as an administrator Loyola won 25 championships in sports including 3 trips to the Prep Bowl.
