Dan's picture book form and speed in the 100-yard butterfly earned him a Chicago Catholic League championship in 1984 and a trip downstate where he placed 2nd in the event. He also qualified for the State Finals in the 50-yard freestyle and the 400-yard freestyle relay. Dan's achievements merited him All-State honors.
