A sports nut, Father John Sullivan served as Loyola Athletic Director from 1919-1920. He was in good measure responsible for the resurgence and success of Loyola Athletics in the 1920's. It was he who convinced Notre Dame star Grover Malone to come to Loyola in 1920 to revitalize the football program. Later he persuaded Cub pitcher Jake Weimer to pick up the baseball reins and made it possible for a budding star named Fred Lindstrom to enroll in school. Father Sullivan's enthusiasm for sports resulted in many of the memories we cherish today.
