During Fenwick's long "Reign of Terror" in the pools of the Chicago Catholic League, Loyola's Gene Corley was the one man who offered a ray of hope. Gene was the league champion as a junior and repeated in his senior year with a point total of 211.05. He was widely recognized as the best prep diver in the city in 1947.
