The title for this film series was borrowed from Pope Francis when he introduced a Christmas 2020 concert and referred to the performing musicians as guardians of beauty. As Loyola Academy prepares to break ground on its new $27 million Leemputte Family Theater and arts center in April 2021, with an anticipated grand opening in Fall 2022, we asked Rambler alumni to reflect on a variety of prompts, such as: What does this favorite quote of Dorothy Day from Fyodor Dostoevsky mean to you: "Beauty will change the world."? At a time when many schools are cutting arts programming, why is Loyola's investment in the arts important? What do you think are the benefits of arts programming for all students, both for artists and non-artists alike? What did you personally get out of the arts programming at Loyola? Why is it important to share art with the community at-large? What is the value of artistic collaboration? In a word, what would a world without art be like? Here are their self-filmed responses.
