Loyola Academy voice and theater students will perform their first night of cabaret at Rock House in Glenview! Organized by Mr. Kevin Wood, adjunct voice faculty member, students under the tutelage of New York City cabaret artist and director Lennie Watts will present a varied program.
One definition of cabaret is any performance in an intimate setting that breaks the fourth wall. Students will be encouraged to openly and honestly share their interpretations of musical theater and cabaret repertoire in this hour long performance. Cabaret often includes “patter,” as well—stories and commentary that help the audience connect with the performers’ approach to the songs that they perform.
Featured performers have been chosen from the students of the Loyola voice faculty—Kevin Wood, John Stumpff and Jessie Oliver.
No advance reservations or tickets are required. The performance is offered at no charge although donations will be gratefully accepted to defray expenses.
