Day Camp

Loyola Academy Day Camp

Loyola Academy offers one of the most extensive Summer Camp Programs on the North Shore. With the outstanding facilities, both indoor and outdoor, the program is never limited or curtailed because of inclement weather. A registered nurse is in attendance at all times. Hot lunches are provided in the cafeteria and are included in the cost of the camp. Bus service is also included in the cost of camp. Outstanding programs, staff and facilities make Loyola Academy the ideal place for boys and girls to spend a rewarding and active summer.

Before-care is available starting at 8:30 a.m. for families that need to have their camper(s) begin their camp day earlier. The weekly cost is $75 for the first child; and $50 for each additional sibling. Campers will be supervised by Loyola Day Camp counselors.

Pool Update: Loyola Academy broke ground on a state-of-the-art swimming pool and aquatic center in May 2018. The project will bring forth a highly anticipated new pool for Loyola and upgrades that will benefit the whole community. As we undergo the necessary demolition and building phases, Loyola Academy’s Day Camp will be without the use of a pool on campus. Because we understand the importance of swimming time and education for our campers, we have contracted with Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) School in Glenview to utilize their pool. This enables us to offer swim lessons three days a week. Loyola will provide bus transportation to and from OLPH and our own lifeguards and swim instructors to ensure a quality experience for our campers.

List of 15 frequently asked questions.

  • Q. What is the camper-to-counselor ratio?

Our goal is to provide roughly 8–10 campers per counselor.
  • Q. Who are the counselors?

All of the counselors are Loyola Academy students or recent graduates.
  • Q. How are campers placed into groups?

Campers are placed into groups by age and gender.
  • Q. Can I request that my child be placed in a group with his/her friend(s)?

Provided that the campers are the same age group and gender, and it is a mutual friend request, we will do our best to honor the request. We guarantee at least one friend request. Groups are formed on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Q. What if my family is not within the boundaries of bus service?

A discount of $50 per camper is provided to those families who are not within the boundaries for bus pick-up.

Please contact the Day Camp Office to see whether you reside within the boundaries.
  • Q. Does the camp offer before-care or after-care?

Loyola Day Camp will offer a before-care option for families. Starting at 8:30 a.m., Day Camp counselors will be supervising campers in the gym who elect to utilize this program. The cost for the first child is $75 per week; each additional sibling is $50 per week.

Loyola Day Camp does not offer after-care at this time.
  • Q. If I enroll my camper in before care open gym, can he or she still take the bus?

Campers who attend before care from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. will need to be dropped off at Loyola, but they can still be on the bus route home.
  • Q. Is lunch included in the price of the camp?

  • Q. Now that lunch is provided at camp, should I still send money with my child for snacks?

Campers are discouraged from bringing money to camp and do so at their own risk. Counselors will no longer be collecting cash from campers, so each child is in charge of keeping track of the money he or she brings each day. Some campers choose to utilize the vending machines in the cafeteria to purchase drinks, chips or candy. $1.25 to $2.00 is an adequate daily amount of money to send with your camper if you choose to allow him or her to purchase items from the vending machine.

  • Q. What if we do not want to participate in the hot lunch program?

  • Q. What if my child's dietary restrictions/allergies prohibit him or her from participating in the hot lunch program?

Campers who have dietary restrictions/food allergies and must bring their own food will be credited $25 per week. Daily credits will not be given. If a camper who is not participating in the lunch program elects to purchase an item from the cafeteria, he or she will need to bring cash in order to do so. Counselors will NOT be collecting cash from campers.

  • Q. What will my child do at camp each day?
