Trey Williams ’26, Varsity Basketball

For Trey Williams ’26, being a Loyola Academy athlete has always meant representing something greater than himself. A two-year captain of the varsity basketball team, Trey took pride in putting the name on the front of his jersey before the name on the back. Whether competing on the court, mentoring younger teammates, or serving others through programs like Insignis, Gonzaga service projects, and Camp Hope, he embraced Loyola’s call to be a man for others. Known for his leadership and willingness to support those around him, Trey made it a priority to help underclassmen feel welcomed, valued, and connected—understanding that a strong team is built on relationships as much as talent.

In the classroom, Trey challenged himself to pursue academic excellence, culminating in a senior year that included four AP courses, membership in the Clavius Honors Program, National Honor Society, and Latin Honor Society. He credits teachers and mentors such as Ramar Evans '17 for helping him grow not only as a student-athlete, but also as a leader grounded in humility, compassion, and respect for others. Through retreats, service experiences, and the support of the Loyola community, Trey developed a deeper appreciation for resilience, faith, and the importance of using his gifts in service to others. One of his favorite Loyola memories remains the dramatic Jesuit Cup victory secured by a buzzer-beating shot—a moment that perfectly captured the excitement, brotherhood, and pride of being a Rambler. Next fall, Trey will continue his academic and athletic career at Cornell University, where he plans to study Business while competing at the collegiate level in basketball, carrying forward the lessons of leadership, service, and community that defined his Loyola experience.
