Teddy Kurtzweil '26

For Teddy Kurtzweil ’26, Loyola Academy was a place where hard work, resilience, and community came together to shape his high school experience. A three-sport athlete who competed in football, basketball, and baseball, Teddy embraced every opportunity to challenge himself both on and off the field. He thrived in the camaraderie of athletics, valuing the friendships, teamwork, and life lessons that came from competing alongside his classmates. Whether serving on the Football Leadership Council, leading the Maroon Monsoon student section, participating in LA Tank, or representing Loyola in National Honor Society and Insignis, Teddy approached each experience with enthusiasm and a desire to make the most of his time as a Rambler. He credits experiences like LA Tank with strengthening his passion for business and teaching him the value of creativity, collaboration, and stepping outside his comfort zone.

One of the defining moments of Teddy’s Loyola journey came during his senior football season, when a broken collarbone on the final play of the first game sidelined him for the remainder of the year. What could have been a devastating setback instead became a powerful reminder of the strength of the Loyola community. Surrounded by support from teammates, coaches, teachers, and friends, Teddy learned firsthand what it means to belong to a community that genuinely cares for one another. This fall, he will attend the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he plans to study Business. Guided by the lessons he learned through athletics, academics, and service, Teddy leaves Loyola with a deep appreciation for perseverance, teamwork, and the relationships that make the Rambler experience so special.
