Marycait Mackie ’26, Varsity Basketball

For Marycait Mackie ’26, Loyola Academy has been a place where academic growth, athletic excellence, service, and faith came together to shape her journey. A four-year varsity basketball player, team captain, Clavius Scholar, and student leader, Marycait embraced every opportunity to challenge herself both inside and outside the classroom. While naturally drawn to math and science, she credits courses such as AP Language and Composition, Justice Seminar, and American Literature: Hidden Voices with pushing her to think more critically, write with greater purpose, and see the world through new perspectives. Her dedication, perseverance, and commitment to excellence are reflected in her academic success and the countless ways she invested herself in the Loyola community. Next fall, she will attend Washington University in St. Louis to study Business.

Beyond academics and athletics, Marycait’s Loyola experience deepened her understanding of service, compassion, and human connection. Through Arrupe service at the North Shore Senior Center and summer service experiences, she discovered the courage found in vulnerability and the transformative power of relationships. As a leader on and off the court, she learned from Coach Schoenecker that true success is rooted in teamwork, humility, and putting others before oneself. Grateful for the teachers, coaches, counselors, classmates, and staff who encouraged her every step of the way, Marycait leaves Loyola with a profound appreciation for community and a desire to lead with faith, empathy, and an open heart. The friendships, traditions, and spirit she experienced as a Rambler—especially on the basketball court—will remain with her long after graduation.
