For Mariyam Agdubai ’27, Loyola Academy is a place where students are encouraged to grow through curiosity, service, and community. A member of the Dumbach Scholars Program, Cross Country, National Honor Society, Arrupe Service Program, African American Youth Group, Kino Border Initiative, and the Student Ambassador program, Mariyam embraces opportunities to learn from others and step beyond her comfort zone. Whether leading within Dumbach, serving refugee children through Madonna Mission, or welcoming prospective students to campus, she approaches each experience with an open mind and a desire to make meaningful connections.

Mariyam credits Loyola with helping her discover who she is called to be by deepening her faith, broadening her perspective, and encouraging her to engage with the world around her. Experiences such as Kairos, service immersion, and classroom discussions have challenged her to think critically, act compassionately, and see the dignity in every person she encounters. Guided by Loyola’s Jesuit mission, she strives to be a person for others through everyday acts of kindness, service, and leadership. As she looks ahead to her senior year and beyond, Mariyam remains grateful for the supportive community that has helped her grow into a thoughtful, confident, and compassionate young woman.
