Margaret O'Connor '28

For Margaret O’Connor ’28, Loyola Academy has been a place to explore her interests, challenge herself academically, and build meaningful relationships. After attending St. Juliana School in Chicago, she chose Loyola because of its welcoming community and the wide range of opportunities available to students. Since arriving on campus, Margaret has become actively involved in cross country, Medical Club, Hope Squad, STEAM Student Leaders, and the Dumbach Scholars Program, where she also serves as a student leader. Through these experiences, she has found a strong sense of belonging while developing the confidence to step into leadership roles and support those around her.

Margaret credits Loyola’s teachers and mentors with helping her grow as both a student and a person. Inspired by experiences in AP Art History and encouraged by faculty members like Mr. Penna, she has discovered a deeper joy in learning and a greater appreciation for thoughtful reflection, creativity, and service. Through Hope Squad, Dumbach, and other leadership opportunities, she has learned that leadership begins with compassion, listening, and genuine care for others. For Margaret, being a Rambler means working to make life better for those around you while continually striving to become the best version of yourself. Her journey reflects Loyola Academy’s mission of forming intellectually curious, compassionate, and engaged young leaders who seek to make a positive difference in their communities.
