Gavin Pardilla '26

For Gavin Pardilla ’26, Loyola Academy was a place where he found both his passions and his people. A leader in the wrestling program, Dumbach Scholars, Bowman Scholars, Arrupe Service Program, Latin and Greek Honor Societies, and numerous academic initiatives, Gavin embraced every opportunity to learn, serve, and grow. Reflecting on his experience, he describes Loyola as a community that encourages students to strive for good and support one another. Whether competing as a three-time state wrestling qualifier, researching Latin etymology through a summer internship, tutoring peers, or serving as Blood Drive Chairman, Gavin discovered that the Loyola experience is about something larger than individual achievement—it is about contributing to the common good.

Gavin’s time at Loyola strengthened both his intellectual curiosity and his commitment to serving others. Inspired by mentors including Mrs. Pagnotta, Mrs. Blakeslee, and his wrestling coaches, he developed a passion for the classics, biology, and leadership rooted in perseverance and compassion. Service experiences at Centro Romero deepened his understanding of justice and community, while leadership roles taught him the importance of leading by example. This fall, Gavin will attend Johns Hopkins University, where he plans to study Medicine, Science, and the Humanities while continuing his wrestling career. His journey reflects Loyola Academy’s mission of forming women and men for others—individuals who use their talents, intellect, and compassion to make a meaningful difference in the world.
