Emilia Nelson ‘26

For Emilia Nelson ’26, Loyola Academy was a place where she felt known, supported, and challenged to become the best version of herself. A leader in DECA, Student Council, History Club, Campus Ministry, and the Dumbach Scholars Program, Emilia embraced the many opportunities Loyola offered to grow academically, spiritually, and personally. Whether competing as a DECA National Qualifier, performing in Loyola Theatre productions, serving as a Kairos leader, or playing varsity tennis, she approached each experience with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a commitment to excellence. “Loyola is a place where they care about you as an individual,” she reflects. “When you realize how supported and loved you are, you want to give that to other people.”

Throughout her four years, Emilia found purpose in Loyola’s Jesuit mission and its call to be a woman for others. Experiences in Campus Ministry, leadership roles, and service opportunities deepened her faith and strengthened her desire to lead with compassion and integrity. Inspired by mentors who challenged her to ask meaningful questions and see the image of God in every person, she developed a deeper understanding of leadership rooted in service. This fall, Emilia will attend the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, where she plans to study Strategic Management. Her journey reflects Loyola Academy’s mission of forming intellectually curious, compassionate, and courageous leaders prepared to pursue the magis in all aspects of life.
