Abeyod Dawit ’26, Varsity Football

For Abeyod Dawit ’26, Loyola Academy provided opportunities to challenge himself academically, grow as a leader, and discover how his talents could serve others. A Loyola Scholar, AP Scholar with Honor, Gates Scholar Finalist, and senior leader in the Clavius Honors Program, Abeyod embraced rigorous coursework that fueled his passion for engineering. From his first Honors Physics class as a freshman to the demands of AP Physics C as a senior, he learned that perseverance, curiosity, and a commitment to understanding are often more important than simply finding the right answer. Balancing a challenging academic schedule with leadership on the soccer field earned him recognition as an IHSCA All-Academic honoree and reinforced the discipline and resilience that have defined his Loyola experience.

Beyond the classroom, Abeyod found meaningful growth through service, mentorship, and athletics. A summer service immersion on a Native American reservation in South Dakota broadened his perspective and deepened his commitment to caring for others, while mentors such as Ms. Bennett helped him understand that being a Rambler means living a life rooted in community and service. As a three-year varsity soccer athlete and All-Conference performer, he formed lifelong friendships and learned the value of accountability, teamwork, and leading through example. Grateful for the teachers, counselors, coaches, and classmates who supported him along the way, Abeyod leaves Loyola prepared to lead with integrity, compassion, and intellectual curiosity as he pursues a future in engineering.
