Grandparent/Student Mass and Reception

On Sunday, September 25, over 450 guests attended the first annual Grandparent/Student Mass and Reception hosted by the Loyola Academy Mothers’ Club and Fathers’ Network. Ramblers and their grandparents gathered in the Loyola Academy Chapel to celebrate Mass with Rev. Patrick E. McGrath, SJ. The sun-filled chapel, beautiful music and inspiring words by Fr. McGrath made this a liturgy to remember for the multigenerational audience.

Ramblers and grandparents then headed to the West Gym for a reception and delicious breakfast.  Lively conversation and laughter could be heard throughout the gym as they enjoyed each other in the festive atmosphere. A photographer was present to take individual photos of the students with their grandparents to preserve a special memory of the delightful day.

The contributions of grandparents to the lives of Loyola students cannot be measured, but can be recognized and appreciated. The very successful Grandparent/Student Mass and Reception is the beginning of a new and wonderful tradition at Loyola Academy!  Thank you to Chairs Kerrie and Mike McKeough and Co-Chairs Mary Kate and Fred Donnelly for spearheading this event. Additional thanks to the volunteers, Campus Minister Douglas Gleber, the musicians, choir and Campus Ministry department.
