A Capella Competes at Varsity Vocals

Loyola's two a capella groups, Nothin' But Treble and Acafellas, competed in the Varsity Vocals quarterfinals on Saturday, February 5, and Sunday, February 6, at DeKalb and Buffalo Grove High Schools respectively. Varsity Vocals has been the home of a cappella since 1995, giving singers in high school, college and beyond the opportunity to perform and compete with other a cappella groups. Each season, nearly 500 a cappella groups compete from around the globe, singing 10 minute sets complete with dancing.
Nothin' But Treble is a group of thirteen soprano and alto voices. They performed "I Won't" by Little Mix (soloist: Hannah Beil '24); "Chasing Pavements" by Adele (soloist: Eva Dempsey '22); and "Titanium" by David Guetta (soloist: Lili Forowycz '22). They did a wonderful job and can't wait to compete again next year.

Acafellas is composed of only four tenor and bass voices. They performed "I Want It That Way" by The Backstreet Boys, "Don't Go Chasing Waterfalls" by TLC (arranged by Casey Lyons '22), and "Go the Distance" from Hercules. Each 'fella had a solo moments and together they commanded the stage with confidence.

Great job, Ramblers!
