Br. James Small, SJ, Turned 100 on January 10

A former Chicago Police Officer, Br. Small started his career at LA in 1969 as a carpenter. Over the course of several decades at Loyola, he dedicated his considerable skills as a painter to raising more than a million dollars for tuition assistance through the years. His paintings were always a central feature at the Ramble and have found their way across the country and around the world. Br. Small shared his talents and kindness with generations of Ramblers and used to offer art lessons on Saturdays for young and old, alike.
Tantamount to his talent is the immeasurable warmth and generosity of his character. From all of us at Loyola Academy—Happy 100th Birthday, Br. Small!

You can send Br. Small a birthday wish at brothersmall@jesuits.org.
