27th Annual Ramblers Golf Outing

It was a wonderful day on the links at the North Shore Country Club in Glenview as alumni, parents and friends of Loyola Academy gathered for the 27th annual Ramblers Golf Outing on Monday, September 20.
The Rambler Golf Outing began at 1:00 p.m. as the clouds parted on what became a beautiful afternoon. Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to play games and win spectacular prizes. At holes 8 and 13, golfers tried their best to get a hole-in-one and win a 2022 Volvo S60 AWD Momentum Sedan, sponsored by The Patrick Car Group and Hanley Dawson IV ’86, or a 2021 VW Arteon, sponsored by Jennings Chevrolet-Volkswagen and John P. Jennings ’79.

Other popular games on the course included Longest Drive on the 12th hole and Closest to the Pin on the 3rd hole for a chance to win gift certificates to the NSCC Pro Shop. New this year, a hole-in-one on the 3rd, 13th or 16th holes provided lucky golfers with the opportunity to win a year's supply of golf balls from Bridgestone Golf; a brand new Cobra King Radsped Driver; and two pairs of Sqairz performance golf shoes, cushioned golf socks, a deluxe golf footwear carry bag and a Brimz golf cap—all donated by Hanley Dawson IV ’86

Players purchased raffle tickets to secure two mulligans, a sleeve of LA golf balls and a chance to win: tickets to see the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Blackhawks, donated by Reb Banas ’81; a four-course chef’s tasting for 12 in “le Cave,” Pomeroy’s private dining space, donated by Ryan M. O’Donnell ’95 and Ballyhoo Hospitality; a chance at the one million dollar shootout donated by Krueck + Sexton Architects, The Lakota Group and MPS Law; a chance to put for $10,000 donated by Mercer; and a $200 NSCC Pro Shop credit donated by Rambler North Shore Country Club members

On the green, current parent and Board of Trustees member Kevin Lynch, John Defraytas, Willy Hendricks '88 and Kyler Ferguson took first place in the gross competition. On the Peoria handicapping system, Class of 2005 alumni Doug Kadison, Chris Friedrich, Michael Zera and Jim Greco took first.

Courtney O’Connor ’05 and Chris Burke ’96 had the longest drive on the 12th hole. Kevin Willer ’92 and Brian Callahan ’78 were closest to the pin on the 3rd hold.  Winners received a gift certificate to the NSCC Pro Shop.

We are grateful to our golf outing hosts, Reb Banas ’81 and Rambler members of North Shore Country Club. Their generosity and efforts provided us with the best possible experience. We would also like to recognize the impact and generosity of our sponsors, including Silver Sponsors Stanley Spring & Stamping Corporation, Victory Park Capital, Johnnie-O, Reb Banas ’81 and current parent Brendan Carroll, whose contributions have paved the way for us to reach our goal of providing one year’s tuition for one student at Loyola Academy through our Tuition Assistance Program!  We recognize the substantial contribution that this event has made to the Tuition Assistance Program over the past twenty-seven years—totaling well over $250,000.

Save the date for next year’s outing on Monday, September 12, 2022!
