Freshman Families Gather to Celebrate Mass

Freshman families gathered for a beautiful Mass on the morning of Sunday, September 19, under blue skies and bright sunshine. Loyola Academy President Rev. Patrick E. McGrath, SJ, presided over Mass, which took place outside on Hoerster Field. Guests had their choice of seating in the bleachers or on chairs set up on Amato Track. This special liturgy provided a wonderful opportunity for freshmen and their families to pray together in gratitude for the start of a school year.
In his homily, Fr. McGrath addressed the Class of 2025: “Ramblers, you now are a part of the mission of this school. You are a part of this Jesuit tradition of education which says this: your mission is to come here for four years and to test your limits; to understand more deeply your gifts and your talents in the classroom and on the playing field and on the theater stage; to discover more and more who God has created you to be by giving those talents away. You’re not here to hone your gifts in order to hoard them. You’re here to hone your gifts in order to share them.”

After Mass, freshman students and their families enjoyed friendly conversation over light refreshments on what was a wonderful morning at Loyola.
