Rambler Families Reconnect at Open Campus Day

Hundreds of parents, students and their siblings gathered on Sunday, August 29, to reconnect at Loyola’s Open Campus Day. The event celebrated the start of the 2021–2022 school year and the return to full, in-person learning. Storm clouds cleared and the sun began to shine just in time for the start of Mass presided by Loyola Academy President Rev. Patrick E. McGrath, SJ.
In his homily, Fr. McGrath encouraged attendees: "Hear the mission. Live the mission. Be the mission. Be changed by it so that you become that presence and that message and that mission." 

The day included activities such as tennis, swimming, pickleball, laser tag, a peek at the progress of the new theater construction and the opportunity to walk in the shoes of Ignatius. Food was served near the concession stand, and a DJ was pumping out tunes to keep energy high and spirits lifted the whole day. 

“There is no question that we are best when we are together,” says Executive Vice President Dennis R. Stonequist ’90, who spearheaded the event. “And Open Campus Day was a great way to reimagine a new opportunity for us to reconnect. The goal was to welcome back our returning families and introduce new families to our amazing Rambler community.  The start of school has been met with enthusiasm and the more who get a chance to be a part of that the better.”      

The event is one of several intended to foster community and reconnection after a year of hybrid learning and limited events.
