St. Nick's Mass and Drive

The Christmas spirit was in full swing with the Rambler Parent Organization's St. Nick's Mass and Drive from Sunday, December 6, to Saturday, December 12.
On Sunday, December 6, Loyola Academy President Rev. Patrick E. McGrath, SJ, kicked off the Rambler Parent Organization's St. Nick's event with a virtual mass.  Throughout the week, the Loyola community was encouraged to bring in socks, hats, scarves, mittens and gloves to be donated to Catholic Charities. The Loyola Bookstore also hosted a Cyber Monday sale where hats, gloves and scarves could be purchased online and donated to Catholic Charities along with exclusive Loyola-wear items—perfect gifts for every Rambler. The week's events concluded on Saturday, December 12, where families could drop off items to donate and pick up a cup of hot chocolate from our parent volunteers.

Overall, the St. Nick's Drive was a huge success. The Loyola Academy community came together and helped us reach—and then surpass—our goal of 1000 items. Catholic Charities received over 1200 donated items such as hats, mittens, scarves, gloves and gift cards and 180 of those were donated during the Loyola Store's Cyber Monday sale. Additionally, the $900 received in cash donations will be used to purchase much needed additional items for Catholic Charities.

A special thank you to Pamela Werner, P '22 and Noelle Braun-Etheridge, P '19, '22 for chairing this great event.
