Ramblers Hit the Right Notes at the IHSA Solo and Ensemble Virtual Contest
Congratulations to all of the Loyola Academy orchestra students who participated in the IHSA Solo and Ensemble Virtual Contest 2021! Everyone did an outstanding job and received either an excellent or outstanding rank.
Ensemble
The String Trio performance of the first movement of Haydn's Trio in Eb major received a perfect score (40 out of 40)! Members of this group include students Katie Bennett ’22 (violin), James Casey ’23 (violin), and Samuel Cho ’24 (cello).
Orchestra
The Honors Orchestra's performance of Ave Maria, led by concertmaster Ryan Susanto ’22 and conducted by pianist Jimmy O'Connor ’22, received an almost perfect score (39.5 out of 40). This was a student-led concert performance that can be viewed here.
Solo
Samuel Cho ’24 and Peter Scheidt ’22, both cellists in the Honors Orchestra, received the prestigious Best Of Day Award from the IHSA adjudication committee.
Bravo to all the IHSA Solo and Ensemble contest participants from Loyola Academy! All students will receive medals or plaque awards for their great work.
