Alumna Ebony Scott '98 Visits Ignatian Service Learning Classes
Ebony Scott '98 was in Loyola's first class to graduate young women. She returned to LA this month to virtually speak with the Ignatian Service Learning (ISL) Program and brought a poignant and powerful perspective to current students. Today, Ebony serves as the partnership director at Family Independence Initiative, an California-based nonprofit that accelerates the exchange of financial and social capital in low-income communities across the nation.
Senior Summer Parker-Hall introduced Ebony, who spoke about her time at Loyola and the values and experiences that were formative in her career path including Kairos, Arrupe (formerly Life! Loyola's Ignatian Service Learning Program takes the service experience into the classroom—enabling students to learn about social justice issues in academic courses across the curriculum, apply their new knowledge to real-life situations through community service and then engage in reflective exercises, discussions and projects to process the experience.
