26th Annual Ramblers Golf Outing

It was a wonderful day on the links at the North Shore Country Club in Glenview as alumni, parents and friends of Loyola Academy gathered for the 26th annual Ramblers Golf Outing on September 14.
The day began with a 7:00 a.m. shotgun start to begin the ladies’ round. Eight foursomes gathered bright and early to enjoy a day on the greens in support of Loyola. The Rambler Golf Outing began at 11:00 a.m. as the haze began to dissolve and the sun emerged.
Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to play games and win spectacular prizes. At holes 8 and 13, golfers tried their best to get a hole-in-one and win a 2020 Cadillac XT4, sponsored by The Patrick Dealer Group and Hanley Dawson IV ’86, or a 2020 Chevrolet Blazer RSVolkswagen Atlas SEL Premium, sponsored by Jennings Chevrolet-Volkswagen and John P. Jennings ’79.

Other popular games on the course included Longest Drive on the 12th hole and Closest to the Pin on the 13th hole for a chance to win gift certificates to the NSCC Pro Shop. Players purchased raffle tickets to secure two mulligans, a sleeve of LA golf balls and a chance to win: dinner with Ballyhoo Hospitality donated by Ryan M. O’Donnell ’95 and Ballyhoo Hospitality; a chance at the one million dollar shootout donated by UBS; a chance to put for $10,000 donated by Krueck + Sexton Architects, The Lakota Group, MPS Law and UBS; a $100 Johnnie-O gift card donated by John O’Donnell ’83; a Broken Shed Vodka gift basket donated by John Fitzgerald ’84; and a $200 NSCC Pro Shop credit donated by Rambler North Shore Country Club members

On the green, Bill Harden P'24, Tim Goldshalk, Ron Stallworth and Bob Whilman took first place with a score of 136. On the Peoria handicapping system, Michael Fallon ’10, David Fallon ’07, Patrick Baudhuin ’10 and Jack Baudhuin ’11 took first place with a score of 116.

Joe Loyd, of golf outing sponsor Valenti Builders, had the longest drive on the 12th hole. Tim Goldshalk was closest to the pin on the 13th hold and Jeff Boyd on the 16th hole.  Winners received a gift certificate to the NSCC Pro Shop.

Because of generous contributions from golf outing participants, Loyola Academy was able to cover the tuition for one student. We recognize the substantial contribution that this event has made to the Tuition Assistance Program over the past twenty-six years—totaling well over $200,000.

We are grateful to our golf outing hosts, Reb Banas ’81 and Rambler North Shore Country Club members. In addition, we thank our Lady Rambler Golf committee for putting together a great first event! The committee is headed by Heather Penn, Nora (Lucas) Klein '08, Caroline Newell '12, and Madison Banas '16. The hopes is to double ladies' attendance in 2021!

The generosity of our sponsors, including Silver Sponsors Valenti Builders and Stanley Spring and Stamping, made the day possible.  We are grateful to all our sponsors who helped to make this a great event for the students of Loyola Academy.

Save the date for next year’s outing on Monday, September 20, 2021!
