PLC Responds to COVID-19 with Generosity and Gratitude

During Holy Week, Loyola Academy’s young alumni President’s Leadership Council (PLC) answered the call to support local first responders and frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Encouraged by a video message shared on social media from PLC Executive Board Chair Saly Sebastian ‘06, alumni responded enthusiastically and generously, raising funds to purchase meals for those working tirelessly to keep our communities safe.
“The executive board was excited to lead the PLC COVID-19 Support Initiative, especially as we were heading into the holiest week of the year,” says Sebastian of the project which raised $6,000 to support local first responders, essential workers and families in need at Loyola. “It has been truly incredible to see the outpouring of support which enabled us to surpass our goal in just a few short days. We are so grateful to the Loyola Academy family and have never been more proud to be Ramblers!”

Pat Fowler ’03, owner of Candlelite Chicago and sister restaurant Firehouse Grill, and Michael Salvatore ’99, owner of Heritage Bicycles, jumped at the opportunity to get involved in this timely initiative. In the series of visits outlined below, Fowler and Salvatore were able to provide more than meals to first responders - they delivered laughs, gratitude and a moment of solace to our most essential and deserving workers.
