Young Alumni Discuss Arts in College

During lunch periods on Friday, January 17, students had the opportunity to learn about studying film and art in college from recent Loyola Academy graduates.
Presenting in the Art Studio, five alumni spoke about what they are currently studying and projects they have worked on in the past. Discussion and questions were encouraged for current students to find out more about arts programs in postsecondary education.

We are grateful to the following young alumni:
  • Erin Armstrong ’16, who is studying video sound, performance, and drawing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), discussed her passion for the arts by showcasing an animation created for a church during her study abroad experience in the Netherlands.
  • Jack Blasko ’19 discussed his experience studying strategic design and management at Parsons School of Design in New York. His artwork showcased the fusion of graphic design of business design.
  • Trevor Horwitz ’17 is studying graphic design, illustrations, and web design at Columbia College in Chicago. Trevor presented his artwork while discussing his interest in children’s book illustrations.
  • Mack Kerrigan ’16, who is in his last semester at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), talked about his artwork in articulating art and space, as well as his work with special effects makeup.
  • Caid Slatter ’18, a sophomore studying Film at New York University (NYU), presented his short films and discussed what goes on behind the camera as a director and editor to piece each of his films together.
Each alum gave valuable input and advice to the current Loyola students, and we thank them for their continued connection to Loyola Academy!
