Loyola Hosts Middle School Choir Festival

On Tuesday, January 7, Loyola Academy hosted its annual Middle School Choir Festival. Sixty-five students from Queen of All Saints, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, and St. Joan of Arc joined current Loyola choir students to make beautiful music, have fun and learn more about the choir program at Loyola including voice lessons, musical and plays, and how to balance athletics and choir.
After a morning packed with warm ups and practice, students enjoyed a pizza luncheon in the East Gym balcony and the chance to socialize with current Loyola students and peers from neighboring grade schools. A final performance took place in the Chapel after lunch and featured the following songs:

We are the Dreamers (women’s piece)
Walking in the Air (LA Concert Choir)
A Distant Shore (LA Contemporary Vocal Ensemble)
We’re the Men (men’s piece)
The Storm is Passing Over (LA Chorale and Honors Chorale)
Afternoon on a Hill (Honors Chamber Singers
Ching a Ring Chaw (combined piece)

A very special thank you to our guests from Queen of All Saints, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, and St. Joan of Arc! Thanks, as well, to Ms. Maggie Simons, choir director, and Pan Xiao and Kevin Wood, collaborative pianists, for making this such an unforgettable day!
