October Rambler Reunion Celebrations

Fall is a special time at Loyola Academy, and our alumni relations team looks forward to welcoming back classes of alumni Ramblers every year. This October, we celebrated with the Classes of 1959, 1962, 1979, 1989, 1994 and 1999. Each reunion had an excellent turnout and was a wonderful reminder of the strength of our Rambler pride and deep connection to Loyola. 
Class of 1962 Mini Reunion | October 3, 2019

The Class of 1962 celebrated its annual mini reunion at The Happ Inn in Northfield. Special guests included Fiona Davoren ’20,  the 2019 recipient of the James M. O'Loughlin and Class of 1962 Scholarship, and members of Loyola Academy's executive leadership team including Vice President of Alumni and Network Engagement Marty Jennings ’98 and Assistant Director of Alumni Relations Ashley Sanks ’10. Alumni heard the latest reactions on the new John D. Norcross ’54 Aquatic Center and the Piazza and what additions are to come with Phase 2 of the Campus Master Plan!
 
Class of 1959 60th Reunion | October 5, 2019

The day began with Mass in the Loyola Academy Chapel followed by brunch in the former Jesuit Residence. After brunch, the group enjoyed a tour of the school in which they spent two of their four Rambler years after Loyola’s move to Wilmette in 1957. Led by Vice President of Alumni and Network Engagement Marty Jennings ’98, the tour highlighted Loyola’s new STEAM Lab, the John D. Norcross ’54 Aquatic Center, the Piazza and the newly renovated Loyola Store where alumni had the opportunity to purchase new Loyola sports apparel. A tailgate at noon outside Sachs Stadium was a great way for alumni and Rambler fans to gather before kickoff against Brother Rice. Class of 1959 alumni heled cheer the Ramblers on to a 34–14 victory.

A cocktail reception and dinner at The Happ Inn in Northfield closed out a wonderful day spent with fellow Ramblers and friends both old and new. A special thank you to the Class of 1959 reunion committee members: Michael Bolan, Jack Callahan, Dick Dooley, Larry Dooley, Chips Feeley, Timothy Hartnett, David Joyce, Richard Kenney, Dale Leonard, John O’Loughlin, Richard Plante and Art Smith.

Class of 1979 40th Reunion | October 11-12, 2019

The 40th reunion weekend kicked off with an afternoon of paddle on Friday, October 11, at Skokie Country Club, followed by a cocktail party and dinner where alumni Ramblers had the chance to catch up with one another after many years.

Saturday began with a Rambler tailgate at noon before Loyola took on Benet Academy on Hoerster Field. With the cheers of alumni encouraging the team, the Ramblers claimed a 46–14 victory! An evening Mass in the Loyola Academy Chapel, celebrated by Loyola President Rev. Patrick E. McGrath, SJ, included a moment of silence to honor deceased classmates whose names were said aloud. After Mass, the Class of 1979 enjoyed cocktails, dinner and memories in Loyola’s beautiful new Piazza.

A special thank you to the Class of 1979 reunion committee members: Robert Berner III, James Brault, Richard Cenar, Martin Denten, Patrick Dolan, Timothy Foley, David Haracz, Roger Hickey, John Jennings, Daniel Lahart, SJ,Eugene Lenzi, Mr. James Lyman, Gary Michalek, Thomas Nash, Kevin O'Hara, Edmund Orr Jr., Chris Paxson, James Schufreider and Robert Wild.
Notably, the Class of 1979 has reached their class giving goal of $150,000 – thank you!  
     
Class of 1989 30th Reunion | October 12, 2019

The day started with a Rambler tailgate at noon before Loyola took on Benet Academy on Hoerster Field. With the cheers of alumni encouraging the team, the Ramblers claimed a 46–14 victory!

After the game, the festivities continued with a special Reunion Mass in the Loyola Chapel celebrated by Loyola Academy President Rev. Patrick E. McGrath, SJ. A special moment of silence honored deceased classmates whose names were said aloud. Following Mass, guests made their way to Loyola’s Student Center. A cocktail and dinner reception provided ample time for catching up with old friends.

A special thank you to the Class of 1989 reunion committee members: Mike Cabonargi, George Chiampas, Sam Cody, Joe Dentzer, John Fanning, Ken Fowler, John Ginley, Mike Glascott, Jim Hayes, Chris Kane, Casey Kenny, Henry Klein, Casey Magner, Rich Malek, Erik Maurer, Brian Murphy, Todd Poulos, Steve Samuelson, William Sanford, Brian Spillane, Peter Spingola, Brian Stearney, Dan Sullivan, Kevin Toomey, Pat Welch, Des Werthman and John Zera.
 
Notably, the Class of 1989 has raised $46,775 toward their class giving goal of $50,000 – thank you!  
 
 Class of 1994 25th Reunion | October 26, 2019

The day started with a Rambler tailgate at noon before Loyola took on Marist on Hoerster Field. Despite a final score of Marist 14 - Loyola 6, the cheers of alumni helped to keep spirits up. After the game, the festivities continued with a special Reunion Mass in the Loyola Chapel celebrated by Loyola Academy President Rev. Patrick E. McGrath, SJ. A special moment of silence honored deceased classmates whose names were said aloud. Following Mass, guests made their way to Loyola’s beautiful new Piazza. A cocktail and dinner reception provided ample time for catching up with old friends.
 
A special thank you to the Class of 1994 reunion committee members: Adrian Autry, Jerry Barrio, Chris Bruno, Patrick Cashion, Brendan Collins, Timothy Fowler, Michael Fowler, Scott Girard, Daniel Heidkamp, Keith Hermann, Matthew Horne, Ryan Kehoe, Mike Kelley, Pete Krackenberger, Eric Lussen, Ed Marut, J. P. Marzano, Matthew Mitchell, Rob Pasquesi, Michael Perrone, Jimmy Samartzis, Thomas Stanton, Greg Taylor, Robert Tierney, James Tomaska and Brian Tomsheck.

Notably, the Class of 1994 has raised $64,640 toward their class giving goal of $140,000 to endow the Jarett Romanski '94 Scholarship— thank you! The Romanski Scholarship honors the life and legacy of a fellow classmate and helps make the Loyola Academy experience possible for a current Rambler.
 
 
Class of 1999 20th Reunion | October 26, 2019

The Class of 1999 had an outstanding turnout of over 200 attendees! A Rambler tailgate at noon before Loyola took on Marist on Hoerster Field began the day with Loyola pride. Despite a final score of Marist 14 - Loyola 6, the cheers of alumni helped to keep spirits up.

After the game, the festivities continued with a special Reunion Mass in the Loyola Chapel celebrated by Loyola Academy President Rev. Patrick E. McGrath, SJ.
