25th Annual Ramblers Golf Outing

It was a wonderful day on the links at the North Shore Country Club in Glenview as alumni, parents and friends of Loyola Academy gathered for the 25th annual Ramblers Golf Outing on September 9.
Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to play games and win spectacular prizes. At holes 3, 8 and 13, golfers tried their best to get a hole-in-one and win a grand prize of $1M, a 2019 Cadillac XT4 sponsored by The Patrick Dealer Group and Hanley Dawson IV ’86 or a Volkswagen Atlas SEL Premium sponsored by Jennings Chevrolet-Volkswagen and John P. Jennings ’79.

Other popular games on the course included Longest Drive on the 12th hole, Closest to the Pin on the 13th hole and Deuces Wild on the 16th hole for a chance to win cash prizes and gift certificates to the NSCC Pro Shop. Players purchased raffle tickets to secure two mulligans, a sleeve of LA golf balls and a chance to win Chicago Bears and Northwestern Wildcat tickets donated by Ronald “Reb” E. Banas ’81, dinner with Ballyhoo Hospitality donated by Ryan M. O’Donnell ’95 and Ballyhoo Hospitality, tickets to the Chicago Blackhawks donated by Mr. and Mrs. Silvano D. Salvi and two tickets to the 2019 President’s Dinner donated by Loyola Academy President Rev. Patrick E. McGrath, SJ.

On the green, Reb Banas ’81, Timothy J. Haggerty ’81, Charles K. “Chas” Stevens ’85 and James R. Sullivan ’88 took first place with a gross score of138. On the Peoria handicapping system, Michael L. Braasch ’92, Tim Conway, Thomas G. McBreen ’92 and Mike McDermott ’81 took first place with a score of 112.

Because of generous contributions from golf outing participants, Loyola Academy was able to cover the tuition forone student. In this milestone year in the history of Loyola’s Golf Outing, we recognize the substantial contribution that this event has made to the Tuition Assistance program over the past twenty-five years—totaling well over $200,000.

We are grateful to our golf outing hosts Reb Banas ’81 and Chas Stevens ’85. Their generosity and hard work helped make the day possible.
