Inaugural Rambler Fan Fest—Fun for All Ages!

On Saturday, September 7, Loyola Academy Alumni Relations hosted the inaugural Rambler Fan Festival for all ages before the highly anticipated Loyola vs. New Trier home football game. The event was a wonderful way to rally members of the Loyola community around the great spirit and enthusiasm of Rambler pride!
The festival kicked off at 11:00 a.m. with activities including inflatables, face painting, carnival games and burgers, hot dogs and more from the Loyola Academy Fathers’ Network. Guests enjoyed tours of the John D. Norcross ’54 Aquatic Center and the Piazza. And many stopped in the new Loyola Store, which celebrated its grand opening on the same day, to stock up on Loyola tshirts, polos, hats, accessories and more.

At 12:30 p.m., fans made their way to the main stage where WGN’s Mike Lowe ’97 hosted a pre-game commentary session with former Chicago Bear and Assistant Athletic Director Mark Carrier and former Chicago Bear and current Loyola parent Olin Kreutz. Together they discussed the upcoming season, Loyola Academy athletics, the value of a Jesuit education and more. Listen to their conversation here.

The marching band, drumline, cheer and dance teams then led the varsity Ramblers to the field for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff against rival New Trier. In front of a packed student section and stands full of Rambler fans and friends, the Ramblers defeated the Trevians 34–3.

Following the game, Loyola Academy President Rev. Patrick E. McGrath, SJ, celebrated a very special Mass just outside the Foley-O’Donnell Athletic Commons, overlooking Loyola’s spectacular new Piazza and Aquatic Center. It truly was a great day to be a Rambler!
