Young Alumni Explore Career Risks at Grainger's Lake Forest Headquarters

On Thursday, May 30, young alumni gathered for a professional networking fireside chat with executives at Grainger’s headquarters in Lake Forest. The evening’s theme centered on taking risks and advancing one’s career.
Speakers included Dee Merriwether, Grainger SVP and President, US Direct Sales & Strategy Initiatives; Tom Okray, Grainger SVP & CFO; and Rob Apatoff, retired CEO FTD and head of the Executive Development Program at Northwestern University.

“We were thrilled to partner with Grainger, the Big Shoulders Fund and Northwestern’s Kellogg organizations in providing a first class look at the different paths one may experience in his or her career journey,” says Loyola Academy Vice President of Alumni and Network Engagement Marty Jennings ‘98. “The panel was extraordinary, and the ability of the speakers to connect their path to an honest career risk assessment, and their ability to work with and develop professional networks was great to hear. In many ways, it solidified our goal in creating these types of living networks for our Loyola alumni.”

The Loyola parent network provided this great opportunity for career growth and networking at Grainger’s Lake Forest Headquarters.
