Students Excel at Newhouse Architecture Competition

Congratulations to the Loyola Academy Architecture Team which participated in the Newhouse Architecture competition held at Robert Morris University Gallery in downtown Chicago on Saturday, May 19. The Newhouse Architecture Competition is sponsored by the Chicago Architecture Foundation (CAF) and is open to all Chicago area high schools. The competition is now in its 35th year, and was created as part of the vision of the late State Senator Richard Newhouse.
“The Newhouse Competition is one of CAF’s legacy programs and a unique experience for teens,” says Lynn Osmond, president and CEO of the Chicago Architecture Foundation.  “For nearly 35 years, it has empowered underserved students to apply the design process to real-world problems while teaching them what it means to be an engaged citizen.”

The team was composed of members of the Loyola Academy chapter of the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) plus eight Honors Architecture 2 students who submitted their capstone project from the second semester.
