Voice Students Host Choir Exchange

In March, Loyola Academy voice students hosted two Choir Exchange Programs for visitors from the Blake School in Minnesota and Edgewater High School in Orlando, Florida.
“The goal was for students to gain a perspective on the power of music from other high school students,” says Choir Director Matthew Begale. “Our choir groups were excited to share their love of music with other students.”

During the programs, held on two separate occasions, students from Loyola sang together with the Blake School and Edgewater High School visiting choirs. Students from each school had the opportunity to talk about their shared experiences in choir, build community and connect to the bigger choral community.

“My favorite part of the experience was being able to meet people from another state who are just as passionate about music as I am,” says senior Patricia Urbaniak. “We got to learn new styles of warm-ups which will add a little variety to our usual rehearsals. Experiences like this are very valuable because we got to connect with people who we would normally not have the opportunity to connect with.”
