Despite the limitations in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Class of 1970 celebrated a very special 50th reunion via Zoom in September.
Vice President of Alumni and Network Engagement Marty Jennings ’98 began the evening with a welcome to alumni and discussed the important role of reunions in reconnecting classmates to each other as well as to the mission and legacy of Loyola Academy. Fr. Kenneth C. Simpson ’70 then led the group in prayer before a fun icebreaker activity that fostered lively conversations and brought back great Rambler memories.
A series of breakout sessions enabled ’70 alumni to learn about student life and athletics at Loyola today. A special moment of remembrance honored classmates who have passed before John Wolfe ’70, master of ceremonies, led the Ramblers in a toast: “May job and peace surround you, contentment latch your door. And happiness be with you now and bless you evermore.”
The virtual reunion was a wonderful opportunity for 1970 alumni to reminisce about their time at LA, catch up with classmates, and learn about the current happenings at Loyola. At the end of the evening, Jennings encouraged attendees to save the date for a rescheduled in-person reunion—June 11, 2021!
A special thank you to the Class of 1970 Reunion Committee: John H. Weber, Jr , J. Kevin Chapman, Arthur J. Ferrara, Geoffrey C. Steger, and John A. Jackson (RIP).
