Three Hundred Retreats, Countless Transformations
In 2025, Loyola Academy celebrated its 300th Kairos retreat, marking a significant milestone in one of the most meaningful and enduring traditions in the life of the school. For generations of Ramblers, Kairos has provided an opportunity to step away from the demands of daily life, reflect on their experiences, and deepen their relationship with God, themselves, and others. Rooted in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, the retreat invites students to recognize God's presence in their lives and discern how they are called to live and serve.
Since its introduction, Kairos has become a hallmark of the Loyola experience. Through prayer, reflection, witness talks, small-group discussions, and shared experiences, students are encouraged to grow in self-awareness, gratitude, compassion, and faith. The retreat creates space for authentic conversations and meaningful relationships, helping participants better understand their gifts, challenges, and purpose.
The celebration of the 300th Kairos retreat reflects not only the longevity of the program, but also its profound impact on the Loyola community. Countless alumni point to Kairos as one of the most transformative experiences of their time at Loyola Academy. More than a retreat, it remains a powerful expression of Jesuit education—forming young people who are reflective, faith-filled, and committed to living for others.
