Hunter Lewis ’26, Varsity Softball

For Hunter Lewis ’26, being a Loyola Academy athlete is about far more than individual achievement—it is about trust, teamwork, and showing up for others. As a varsity softball player who will continue her athletic career at Northwestern University, Hunter has learned that the strongest teams are built on relationships, mutual support, and a commitment to helping every teammate feel valued. Whether on the field, in the dugout, or in everyday interactions, she strives to be a woman for others by ensuring that everyone has a voice and feels part of something larger than themselves. Those experiences have shaped her into a leader who understands that success is measured not only by wins and losses, but by the impact you have on the people around you.

One of Hunter’s most memorable experiences came during her junior season when the softball team defied expectations and advanced to the super sectionals. After a challenging start to the season, the team came together with a shared purpose and determination, making an unforgettable postseason run. Although an injury prevented Hunter from finishing the final game of the season, the experience deepened her appreciation for her teammates and reinforced the resilience that defines Loyola athletics. Through both triumphs and setbacks, she learned the importance of perseverance, gratitude, and playing for something greater than herself. Her advice to future Ramblers reflects that perspective: remember why you love your sport, lean on the support of your coaches and teammates, and make time for the relationships and moments that make the journey meaningful. Those lessons—and the bonds she formed along the way—will remain with her long after her playing days at Loyola come to an end.
