April 2017
Watch this short video to learn how Ian’s time at Loyola Academy has provided him with the tools to lead Northwestern University's most successful Dance Marathon.

In 2017, Ian P. Pappas '13 co-chaired the Northwestern University Dance Marathon (NUDM), successfully raising over $1.25 million to benefit GiGi's Playhouse, an organization that helps improve the lives of individuals with Down Syndrome. Along with Ian, Ramblers Connor Carlin '16, Mary Cormier '16, Lucy Melbinger '14 and Nonye Ogbuefi '14 participated in the 30-hour dance marathon.

Special thank you to senior Clare Affinito for filming and producing the video. Next year, Clare will continue her studies at the University of Michigan as a Computer Science major. Currently, Clare is bringing awareness of the refugee crisis through filmmaking, "With the help and support of Loyola Academy staff and alumni, I have begun conducting interviews to help raise awareness of this crisis," she says. "These conversations will allow me to gather stories from those serving refugees in the states as well as refugees themselves adapting to their new homes."
