Dr. Gavin Green '06

Dentist
May 2015
A graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Temple University, Dr. Gavin Green '06 currently practices general dentistry with his father, Gavin J. Green, in downtown Glenview.

A former Dumbach Scholar, Gavin went on to graduate summa cum laude from Temple University's Dental School, where he was invited to Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honors society and also earned the prestigious Julia Moran Scholarship for academic achievement.

"I was prepared very well for college," he reflects. "Loyola stressed academics, but also focused on the importance of faith and service."
Gavin served on the Torch Club and volunteered for Life! Be in it! service program. "Loyola creates an environment of service from day one. Volunteer opportunities are so readily available, they become part of most students' routines."

This emphasis on service has become the most important life lesson Gavin acquired at Loyola Academy. "I carried this with me after high school, and it absolutely affected my choice to work in healthcare and serve others in that way."

Gavin spent four years on Loyola's golf team and returned last fall as an assistant coach for the JV team. In addition to coaching, Gavin is a dedicated member of Loyola's Alumni Mentor Program. "Since moving back from Philadelphia, I immediately joined," he says. "While I stay in touch with tons of my old Loyola classmates, I have connected with many more through the mentorship program. I credit Dennis Stonequist's efforts in creating a welcoming environment for young alumni."

When discussing his recent accomplishments, Gavin readily gives credit to his Loyola experience and its formative influence, citing teachers—particularly Peter McNulty, Beth Waid-Prince and Bud Phillips and coaches Tim Kane '86 and Ray Del Fava '82. He adds, "I am thankful for their incredible work ethic and commitment to Loyola's students."

Gavin plans to stay involved at Loyola. "Loyola is fortunate to have such an amazing leader in Fr. Pat McGrath, and administrators like Genevieve Atwood work tirelessly to create an amazing student body. Loyola students today are as prepared for college and life afterwards as they have ever been."
