2012 XC Banquet Program

The Varsity Team ran one of their best races of the season to finish 11th at the Niles West Sectional.  Junior Teddy Brombach led the team with a 33rd place finish and was followed by junior Matt Randolph (51st), sophomore Spencer Kelly (52nd), senior Jaquan Grier (59th), sophomore Jack Carroll (68th), senior Chris Kelly (86th), and junior Matt Scherer (111th).  The team returns 6 of its top 8 runners next year.

The Varsity Team advanced to the Niles West Sectional by finishing 4th at the Loyola Academy Regional.  Matt Randolph led the team with a 17th place finish and was followed closely by Spencer Kelly (19th), Chris Kelly (24th), Teddy Brombach (26th), Jack Carroll (28th), Jaquan Grier (29th), and Matt Scherer (36th).  Full Results.

The Varsity Team placed second at Chicago Catholic League championship at Turtlehead Lake with a tight pack of six runners all finishing within twenty seconds of each other.  Jaquan Grier (8th), Teddy Brombach (9th), and Matt Randolph (10th) earned First-Team All-Catholic League honors by placing in the top 10 overall.  Chris Kelly finished close behind in 11th place and joined sophomores Spencer Kelly (15th) and Christian Swenson (16th) on the Second-Team All-Catholic League list.  Senior Jack Ball finished in 23rd place overall in the Varsity Race and junior Matt Scherer won the open race.

The Sophomore Team won the Chicago Catholic League Championship by placing 8 runners in the top 13.  Jack Carroll won the individual title by 35 seconds.  Top 10 finishes were also turned in by Callen Ruiz (4th), Ross Sullivan (5th), David Kelley (6th), and John Baker (10th).  Just missing the top 10 were John Gallagher (11th), Zach Gruber (12th), and Griffin Callans (13th).

The Freshman Team won the Chicago Catholic League Championship with a near-perfect score of 17 points.  Patrick Reilly-Hayward won the individual title and was joined in the top 5 by Danny Pasco (3rd), Kevin Corbett (4th), and Jack Preston (5th).  Neil Udelhofen completed the team scoring by finishing in 9th place.  Top 15 finished were also turned in by Liam McKeough (14th), and Scott Berens (15th).

The Varsity team finished 6th out of 32 teams at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational at Montrose Harbour. Loyola placed three runners in the top 30: Jaquan Grier (27th), Matt Randolph (28th), and Teddy Brombach (30th). Sophomores Christian Swenson (46th) and Spencer Kelly (50th) completed the team scoring.

The Freshman/Sophomore team placed 9th out of 24 teams at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational.  Ross Sullivan (45th) and Callen Ruiz (48th) led the team with top 50 finishes. Following close behind were David Kelley (54th), Kevin Corbett (55th), Danny Pasco (57th), John Baker (58th), and Jack Preston (63rd).

The Varsity team opened the 2012 season by placing 26th out of 60 teams at the Richard Spring Invitational hosted by Peoria Notre Dame high school.  Jaquan Grier led the team with a time of 15:46 for 3 miles.  Following close behind were juniors Teddy Brombach and Matt Randolph, sophomore Spencer Kelly, and seniors Chris Kelly and Jack Ball.  Personal bests were also turned in by juniors Christian Swenson, Gavin Krueger, and Charlie Eisinger.

The Freshman/Sophomore team placed 20th of 43 teams at the Richard Spring Invitational.  Jack Carroll led the team with a 36th place finish.  Personal best times were also run by Callen Ruiz, Ross Sullivan, Kevin Corbett, Patrick Reilly-Hayward, John Baker, Michael Krzeczkowski, Danny Pasco, Stephen DiSilvestro, Jackson Huettl, and Alex Composto.

Todd Ford finished 6th and William Hague 17th at the IHSA State Championship to become the 8th and 9th athletes in Loyola history to earn All-State honors.  Loyola finished in 18th place as a team.  Congratulations to Todd Ford, William Hague, Chris Kelly, Logan Podbielski, Sean Lamble, Teddy Brombach, Jaquan Grier, and Kevin Donohue on a great season.
