Loyola Academy was founded in 1909 on the campus of Loyola University in Rogers Park. In 1957, we moved our campus to Wilmette.

Track - Varsity Boys

Introduction

Description:	Track & Field is a no-cut sport consisting of 18 different events ranging from running to jumping to throwing. No experience is necessary to join the team but athletes are expected to be at practice everyday. Track is considered one season with both an indoor (January-March) and outdoor (April-May) component.

Three athletes earned All-State honors as the team raced to an 8th place finish at the IHSA State Meet. Shujaa Benson placed 3rd in the 300m Hurdles and 5th in the 110m Hurdles. Nico Composto finished 2nd in the 1600m run in a time of 4:14.8 while Jack Seeberg finished 7th in 4:16.86. Also competing were Mark Donohue and Patrick Smith in the 3200m run, Jeff Toraason in the 110m Hurdles, and the 4x200m Relay team of David Grande, Joe Burns, Bryan Collins, and Obinna Onyeaghala. Congratulations to the team on a great season!

The Varsity Team placed second at the IHSA Sectional meet. Shujaa Benson qualified for the State Meet in 3 individual events (110m Hurdles, 300m Hurdles, and Long Jump). Other qualifiers include Jeff Toraason (110m Hurdles), Nico Composto (1600m Run), Jack Seeberg (1600m Run), Mark Donohue (3200m Run) and Patrick Smith (3200m run). Also qualifying was the 4x200m Relay Team of David Grande, Joe Burns, Obinna Onyeaghala, and Bryan Collins.

The Varsity Team won the Chicago Catholic League Championship for the third consecutive year. Shujaa Benson was named the Lawless Award winner as Athlete of the Meet for winning the 110m Hurdles (in a meet record) and Long Jump. Shujaa also placed third in the 300m Hurdles and anchored the second place 4x100m Relay Team. Nico Composto won the 1600m Run in a meet record time of 4:16.48 and finished second in the 800m Run. Quinn Kaiser won the Shot Put and placed third in the Discus. Other top performers include Jack Seeberg, Mark Donohue, Patrick Smith, William Hague, Bryan Collins, Jeff Toraason, Joe Burns, Obinna Onyeaghala, Robert Weilgos, Will Haley, Spencer Perry, Ryan Santacrose, and Abel Ketema.
