General:
Kick off the New Year by being active and participating in intramural kickball. Signups will be Wednesday and Thursday this week outside the East Gym. Teams will consist of 8 students with no more than 5 boys. Winners will earn t-shirts and a match against one of the all-star faculty teams. A $5 donation to the missions per team is appreciated; play starts Friday 1/9 or Monday 1/12 during all lunch periods. Forms must be turned in to Coach Holecek by Friday.
Athletics:
Girls Hockey- LA Girls 3 vs New Trier JV 0 - Loyola girls are still going strong. Maria Mieling earned another shut-out saving 7 shots on net. Julia Cowan scored the first goal with an assist from Elli Gruber and Sam Scholl scored two goals, one assisted by Maggi Tyska and Jen Slaski and one assisted by Jenn Caldwell.
Girl's Soccer Preseason fitness will start this Tuesday, January 6th at 3:15 p.m. Meet in the hallway between the gyms near the athletic office. Fitness will be every Tuesday and Thursday until the end of February, except for Finals week. Loyola Girls Hockey Win Winter Classic
1/3/09 - LA Girls 4 vs Mercy Academy 0 - In the first ever Loyola Girl's Winter Classic, Loyola took the win and a shut-out from Mercy Academy, a visiting team from the Detroit area. The game was held at Watt's Park in Glencoe at noon on Saturday. This was the first time the Loyola Girls had an opportunity to play outdoors. Maria Mileing was in the net for the shut-out. Two Goals were scored by Julia Cowan (both were assisted by Simone Gruber and one had a second assist from Kathy Shei) Sam Scholl scored assisted by Caroline Wright and Simone Gruber scored assisted by Jenn Caldwell and Hilary Marshall.
