The Jesuit Seal The letters IHS in the Jesuit seal do not stand for "Ignatian High School" but rather represent the first three letters in the Greek word for "Jesus."

The goal of our Admissions Office at Loyola Academy is to promote and maintain a student body with diverse educational abilities as well as diverse geographic, ethnic, racial and socio-economic backgrounds. This is best accomplished when prospective students learn as much as possible about Loyola Academy and Loyola Academy learns as much as possible about our prospective students.
Admission to Loyola Academy is based on consideration of a combination of factors including, but not limited to Entrance Exam scores, grade school academic performance, involvement and relationship with the Academy, leadership and extracurricular activities.
The required Entrance Examination for eighth grade students is administered on the second Saturday of January. Testing reservations are not necessary. The testing fee of $25.00 is payable in either check (to Loyola Academy) or cash. Letters of notification are sent out in mid-February.
Shadow Program
Loyola Academy's Shadow Program allows seventh and eighth graders to accompany a Loyola Academy student through a full
day of classes. This student guide will most likely be a current freshman. If you know a student at Loyola that you would like to "shadow," please
indicate this when signing up for your day.
Check our Admissions Calendar to see if your grade school has a scheduled eighth grade shadow day. If not, call to schedule your own shadow day. Your day begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 2:15 p.m.
Eighth graders are welcome to visit Loyola Academy from September until Christmas Break. Seventh graders are welcome to visit from March until the beginning of May.
Making Reservations:
Please call the Admissions Office [847.920.2481] and give at least seven days advance notice for scheduling
a Shadow Day.

Any kind of shoes and socks are appropriate.

You do not need to bring a lunch. Lunch will be provided. Please check in at the Admissions Office Room 170.

Loyola Academy reserves the right to limit the number of transfer students in compliance with the Village of Wilmette's ordinance governing school population. Loyola
typically does not accept mid year transfers nor transfers into Senior year. Loyola's Admissions Office begins considering transfers on April 1st. All applications
for transfer into Loyola must be submitted by the end of June.
Steps for applying as a transfer into Loyola Academy:
1. Applicant must have a minimum of a “B” average in their high school coursework.
2. The applicant must be in good disciplinary standing at their current high school and must have the Dean of Students from their current school submit a full release of disciplinary and attendance records to the Director of Admissions at Loyola Academy.
3. The applicant must complete and submit both sides of the application. [Transfer Application]
4. The parent or guardian must request the student’s unofficial high school transcript and any standardized testing results from the previous two years be sent to the Director of Admission after the 3rd quarter grades have been recorded. (For transfers from out of state, please also include a curriculum guide from your current school).
5. The parent or guardian must request the student’s official high school transcript (with school seal) and all health/medical records be sent to the Director of Admission after the final grades have been recorded.
6. Upon acceptance, the student will need to schedule a conference with the Director of Admissions to complete registration.
Acceptance is contingent upon successful completion of current course work and receipt of final official transcript and health records.
Tuition for the 2008-2009 school year is $11,300 exclusive of books and transportation. There is an additional fee for students who qualify for the O'Shaughnessy Program.
Summer School is required for students entering the O'Shaughnessy Program and other incoming freshmen that evidence academic weaknesses in reading.
Financial Aid
Loyola strives to maintain a diverse student body, socially and economically. To that end, Loyola will provide $2.75 million in financial aid to approximately 25% of our families in
the 2007-2008 school year. The distribution of funds is strictly based on financial need and all financial aid is gift assistance. For more information,
please visit our Business
Office page.
More information on Loyola's Financial Aid Program is available in our Financial Aid Brochure [PDF].
